China’s new stealth drone shocked America, GJ-X made its first flight, is this the next generation bomber?

Beijing. There is no end to fighter planes in the world of war. America has similarly created B-2 Bomber stealth aircraft, which has the capability to defeat the enemies. Meanwhile, China’s new stealth flying wing drone, which is probably being considered as the next generation bomber, has taken to the sky. A video of the large stealth ‘cranked kite’ aircraft, unofficially called GJ-X, has been circulating on Chinese social media since October 19. America must have been shocked by the sighting of this bomber in the sky for the first time, because tension has persisted between America and China for a long time.

According to a report by The War Zone earlier this week, it appeared to be the same aircraft that was captured in satellite imagery taken at China’s Malan Air Base in the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region in August. A previous report by the military website stated that the Malan base aircraft had a wingspan of approximately 42 meters (138 ft), which puts it in a very rare category for stealth uncrewed aircraft.

This size puts it on par with the Northrop Grumman B-21 Raider, an American stealth strategic bomber with a wingspan of 40–42 metres. The B-21, which is currently under construction, is expected to carry both conventional and nuclear payloads and, along with the B-52, will form the backbone of the future US bomber force. The purpose of the new Chinese drone is not clear yet. According to reports, some military observers said it was a large unmanned combat air vehicle focusing on kinetic operations, while others said it was an unmanned stealth bomber.

In a video posted online last month, Chen Xi, a Chinese military watcher and commentator for Shenzhen TV, said the drone seen at the Malan base was a medium-range strategic bomber. “The next-generation H-20 bomber has not been released yet, but we now have a strategic-level medium-range bomber the size of the B-21,” Chen said. In 2016, China announced the development of a new long-range bomber, later named the H-20 stealth bomber. Lieutenant General Wang Wei, deputy commander of the Chinese Air Force, said in March last year that the bomber would be shown off soon, while a US defense assessment suggests the H-20 might not debut until the 2030s.
