Bengaluru: There was an explosion in a house in KR Puram area of Karnataka’s capital Bengaluru on Saturday, in which an elderly woman died and three other people were injured. The explosion was so powerful that the entire house was destroyed. It is suspected that this incident occurred due to the explosion of a kitchen cylinder kept in the house. Police from KR Puram police station visited the spot.
According to the police, the incident happened around 7.15 am and the house was completely damaged. Due to the intensity of the explosion, three-four nearby houses were also damaged and a woman named Akkayamma (80) died on the spot. Chandana (22), Shekhar (52) and Kiran Kumar (25) were seriously injured. Chandana’s condition is said to be critical.
DCP of Whitefield Division. Parashuram said that it appears that there has been an explosion in the cylinder and detailed information will be available after further investigation.
Meanwhile, KR Puram MLA Bhairathi Basavaraj visited the spot. He said, “I am shocked to see this incident. It raises doubts whether this incident happened due to gas leakage or explosives. It should be found out whether something like this happened due to the storage of explosives. It is doubtful that a cylinder explosion can cause damage on such a large scale. Proper investigation should be conducted to remove the doubt.”
