Firing near Harvard University… Cyclist shoots another person

Washington. A firing incident took place near America’s prestigious Harvard University on Friday. A cyclist shot at another person. The suspect is being searched by the police.

The university has issued a statement after the firing incident. “Cambridge Police are reporting that an unidentified man on a bicycle has just shot another man on Sherman Street. The suspect is headed toward Garden Street on a bicycle. Please avoid the area and stay safe,” she wrote on the website. The university had issued an order to stay at a safe place for some time, which was later lifted.

Police said no one has been identified yet, and there is no threat to public safety. More information will be given as soon as it is available. “Please remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to HUPD at 617-495-1212,” the university said on its emergency alert website.

The shooting incident took place on Sherman Street, where an unknown man riding a bicycle opened fire at another man. After the incident, the suspect fled toward Garden Street. After this, investigating agencies immediately reached the spot. According to the initial alert, the suspected shooter was seen bicycling toward Garden Street, which runs from North Cambridge to Radcliffe Quad and Harvard Square. About 20 minutes after the first alert, some students and bystanders were still outside the quad, although the area was evacuated by 11:40 a.m. Staff at a residential home asked the student to stay inside.
