Desk: Local residents were stunned to see the recently unveiled Gandhi Statue in Guruvayur Municipality, Kerala. There was no resemblance to Mahatma Gandhi in this statue unveiled in the Bio Park of the Municipality. In this statue of Gandhi, neither his distinctive glasses, nor his walking stick, nor his face have any resemblance.
For the last several days, the work of installing Gandhiji’s statue was going on in the Bio Park of Guruvayur Municipality. When the Gandhi statue was unveiled on Monday (October 27, 2025), the local people and those present at the ceremony were stunned to see it. Obviously no one would have seen such a statue of Mahatma Gandhi before. Thrissur BJP’s North District Committee member Sumesh Kumar and local people said that one does not become Gandhi just by adding glasses and a stick.
Locals have expressed concern that the statue bears little resemblance to Mahatma Gandhi, one of the most iconic figures of India’s independence struggle. Many people are debating whether this statue actually represents the Father of the Nation.
