Shubham Goswami made ‘Aman Khan’, received threat on talk of returning home

Bhopal: A case of religious conversion has come to light in Bhopal, the capital of Madhya Pradesh. Shubham Goswami, resident of Jahangirabad police station area of Bhopal, has alleged that a Muslim girl and her family pressured him to accept Islam and get married. The youth alleges that he was forced to convert to religion by constant mental pressure.

Police investigation has revealed that this matter is not completely new. During the investigation, the police found an old case related to this incident, which is of the year 2022. According to officials, this Muslim girl had accused Shubham of rape at that time. Based on the complaint of the girl, the police registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested Shubham and sent him to jail. Shubham got bail after about four months. At present this case is pending in the court.

Shubham alleges that even after being released from jail, he was mentally harassed. He told that the girl and her family threatened her and said that if she did not accept Islam, more cases would be registered against her. According to Shubham, under this pressure his name was changed to Aman Khan and he was forced to hide his identity. Now he wants to return home (convert to Hinduism), but is receiving threats.

In this case, Jahangirabad police station in-charge Chaturbhuj Rathore said that both of them already knew each other and there had been disputes between them earlier also. He said that in the preliminary investigation this matter seems to be related to mutual rivalry and personal conflict. According to Rathore, complainant Shubham was called to the police station for his statement, but the interrogation is currently stalled as his mobile phone was found switched off. Police are now collecting detailed information from both the sides.

At the same time, after this incident came to light, some Hindu organizations reached the police station and demonstrated. The protesters raised slogans in support of Shubham and demanded strict action against the accused girl and her family. The organizations claimed that this matter could be related to Love Jihad and it should be investigated impartially.

Police officials say that at present the case is being investigated from all aspects. It is being seen in the investigation whether pressure was really put on religious conversion or not, or whether this matter is the result of old enmity. Police say that statements of all the parties concerned are being recorded and evidence is being collected. Further action will be taken after the investigation is completed.
