Business: The Indian stock market closed in the green on Tuesday. The 30-share BSE Sensex closed at 83,871.32, up 335.97 points or 0.40 per cent. Meanwhile, the 50-share NSE Nifty rose by 120.60 points or 0.47 percent to 25,694.95. The rupee on Tuesday closed 16 paise higher at 88.57 (provisional) against the US dollar amid progress on the US shutdown bill and optimism over the US-India trade deal.
