Air India flight between India and China

Let us inform you that Air India will restart its non-stop flights between Delhi and Shanghai Pudong (PVG) from February 1, 2026, which marks the return of the airline to China after a suspension of almost six years. These flights will operate four times a week using Boeing 787-8 aircraft, with 18 business class and 238 economy class seats. This restoration follows the new diplomatic ties between India and China and the resumption of direct air connectivity first initiated by Air India in October 2000.

New Mumbai-Shanghai route planned in 2026

Along with the Delhi-Shanghai service, Air India is also planning to launch a non-stop Mumbai-Shanghai route in late 2026, subject to regulatory and bilateral approvals. The move aims to strengthen connectivity between India’s commercial hubs and China’s financial hub. Let us tell you that direct flights between India and China ended in early 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic and were further delayed due to geopolitical tensions after the eastern Ladakh border dispute.
