Gave important suggestions by writing a letter to PM Modi

New Delhi : Concern is being expressed everywhere about the increasing air pollution in Delhi. Opposition parties are also attacking the government on pollution. Now former Lieutenant Governor and IPS officer Dr Kiran Bedi has expressed concern about the polluted air of the capital. He has written a letter to Prime Minister Modi saying that the country’s air is continuously becoming poisonous, but lack of administrative coordination and long-term planning is making this crisis more frightening every year.

Kiran Bedi, in a detailed letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has said that the air quality of Delhi NCR has now become a public health emergency and it cannot be stopped only by temporary measures. He said in his X post that he had ensured timely action on many national challenges during his tenure, and the same high-level, regular monitoring is needed today to curb Delhi’s pollution crisis.

4 suggestions given to PM Modi
Kiran Bedi has also given her 4 suggestions in the letter written to PM Modi. He says that the Prime Minister should have online meetings every month with the Chief Ministers and Chief Secretaries of the 3 neighboring states, along with regular reviews at the top level, this will increase accountability in the states and prevent the situation from worsening.

Apart from this, he has suggested to PM Modi to give the message of public participation through Mann Ki Baat programme. Along with suggestions to remove the lack of departmental coordination, it has also been said to activate the administration. He said that governance does not run only through meetings, officials should go into the field and realistically assess the situation.

Permanent solution options
The former police officer said that each year’s pollution crisis happens because governments rely on makeshift measures, such as smog towers and audio stations. Similarly, responsibility is divided among many agencies. Apart from this, major sources like vehicles, industries, construction dust and stubble are not controlled effectively. Also, short-term political gains become a priority over long-term policies. Whereas real reform requires stronger enforcement, long-term investments in clean energy and transportation.

Regarding air pollution in the capital, Kiran Bedi said that Delhi also needed coordination with the Central and State Government to deal with this crisis, just as there is talk of double engine in other development works. Air quality will improve only when the top leadership, all states, and every department make honest and sustained efforts together.
