The meeting is being held just a day before the winter session starting from Monday (December 1), with an aim to ensure smooth functioning of both the Houses. Rijiju has appealed for cooperation from the opposition through social media.

The meeting is scheduled to be held at the Parliament House at 11 am and is expected to see wide-ranging discussions on potential issues, bills and proceedings of Parliament during the session. The government wants the session to run in a peaceful and orderly manner so that maximum work can be completed.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has commented on the opposition’s stand regarding SIR (Special Electoral Revision). He says that only after Sunday’s meeting it will be clear what stand the opposition takes on this issue. He said that the Supreme Court has already clarified that the SIR being conducted by the Election Commission is within its jurisdiction and no such case has come to light in Bihar where anyone’s name has been removed due to the SIR. Dubey alleged that SIR is being opposed by those who want to influence the Indian election system in collaboration with foreign powers.

The winter session will start from December 1 and continue till December 19. Earlier today, a round of meetings related to policy-making and strategy has started.
