The incident came to light on Friday morning when police came upon suspicious plastic bags during routine patrolling. On opening the bag, a huge quantity of socket bombs were found inside. After the recovery, additional police force has been deployed in the area to prevent any untoward incident.
According to news agency AINS, “A total of 70 socket bombs have been seized from three plastic jars near Kupila Biswas Pada under Raninagar (Domkal) police station. Domkal police have cordoned off the entire area and information about the matter has been given to the District Bomb Disposal Squad and West Bengal CID.”
It is worth noting that even before this, 85 bombs have been recovered in Murshidabad, which shows the seriousness of illegal explosive activities in the district. Police are investigating where these bombs were kept, who brought them and for what purpose they were to be used.
