
New Delhi. Russian President Vladimir Putin is visiting India on an official visit on 4-5 December 2025. During this period, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and his close friend Putin will spend about 30 hours together. This will be his first visit to India after the start of the Russia-Ukraine war. Earlier he had come to Delhi in December 2021.
This visit is taking place on the special occasion of completion of 25 years of strategic partnership between the two countries and the 23rd India-Russia Annual Summit will be held during this period. Amidst geopolitical tension at the global level, the eyes of the whole world are fixed on this meeting. Although Putin’s visit is for two days, his stay in Delhi will be for about 30 hours. He will reach New Delhi at around 6 pm on 4th December. Soon after his arrival, Prime Minister Narendra Modi will have a private dinner and some informal meetings with him.
The next day i.e. on December 5, a formal welcome ceremony will be held at Rashtrapati Bhavan at 9:30 am. After this Putin will go to Rajghat and pay tribute to Mahatma Gandhi. Then there will be first limited scope talks between the two leaders in Hyderabad House and then larger delegation level talks. Some prominent Indian industrialists may also attend lunch with the delegations in the afternoon. Several bilateral agreements and projects will be announced after the lunch, after which both the leaders will address the media. India-Russia Business Forum will be organized in the afternoon itself in which both Putin and Modi can participate. In the evening, there will be a state banquet hosted by President Draupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan. After the banquet is over, the Russian President will depart from India.
Energy, trade, investment, space will be discussed
In this summit, important agreements are likely to be made in many areas including defence, energy, trade, investment, space and nuclear cooperation. The Russian side has already indicated that talks may move forward on the delivery of additional S-400 air defense regiments and the offer of fifth-generation stealth fighter Su-57 to India. In the case of Su-57, the proposal of technology transfer and joint production in India is also under discussion. Apart from this, both the countries will also have in-depth discussions on issues like energy security, removing trade imbalance, strengthening the rupee-ruble payment system and coordination in Afghanistan, Central Asia and Indo-Pacific region. This meeting of Putin-Modi will not be just a formal talk but will set the new direction and pace of India-Russia special strategic partnership in the coming years. Defense and energy cooperation between the two countries continues to strengthen despite war and Western sanctions, and this visit is a great opportunity to deepen that partnership.
Putin will reach India on November 4 at 6 pm
Russian Putin will reach India at around 6 pm. After his arrival, he will have some important meetings, including a private dinner with Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other private events.
Welcome will be held on 5th November
There will be a formal welcome ceremony for Putin in the courtyard of Rashtrapati Bhavan on November 5 at 9:30 am, after which he will go to Rajghat to pay homage. Limited scope talks, then bilateral and delegation level talks at Hyderabad House. And there will be lunch in which some prominent industrialists can also attend. Can announce agreements in Hyderabad House.
