
Desk: After the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list in Bihar, now the SIR process is being conducted in many states also. SIR is also being conducted in Gujarat. During the ongoing process in Gujarat, it was revealed that more than 17 lakh dead voters are still included in the existing voter list in the entire state.
In the information given by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of the state, it was said that the work of SIR process in Gujarat started on November 4 with the distribution of enumeration forms by Booth Level Officers (BLOs) in their assigned areas. This work of SIR will continue till December 11.
According to the CEO, “In the last one month, enumeration forms have been distributed to more than 5 crore voters registered in the 2025 voter list. 100 percent form distribution has been completed in most of the 33 districts of the state. The work of digitizing the filled and returned forms by the voters is currently underway. So far, the digitization work has been completed on 12 seats out of 182 assembly seats.” It is done.”
These include Dhanera and Tharad of Banaskantha district, Limkheda and Dahod (ST) of Dahod district, Bayad of Aravalli district, Dhoraji, Jasdan and Gondal of Rajkot district, Khambhat of Anand district, Keshod of Junagadh district, Jalalpore of Navsari district and Mehmedabad of Kheda district.
In a statement issued by the State Election Commission, it was said that Dang district is leading in this process, and 94.35 percent digitization of the forms returned here has been completed. According to the Commission, “During this exercise, it was revealed that about 17 lakh dead voters were still included in the total voter list across the state. While more than 6.14 lakh voters were not found at their addresses. Apart from this, it has also come to light that more than 30 lakh voters have migrated permanently.”
There are lakhs of voters in the voter list of Gujarat who have more than one voter card. According to the State Election Commission, during the SIR process, BLOs found more than 3.25 lakh voters in the “repeated” category, which means their names were found at more than one place.
