Grandmother and grandson died due to fire from heater

Ranchi. A grandmother and her 18-year-old grandson died in a fire caused by a heater late night in a house in Vikas Nagar under Saraidhela in Dhanbad, Jharkhand. The incident took place in Vikas Nagar, Saraidhela police station area, Dhanbad on late night of Monday-Tuesday. The deceased include 62-year-old Chinta Mani Devi (grandmother) and 18-year-old Golu (grandson). Three other people sustained serious burn injuries and are undergoing treatment in the hospital.
The blanket fell on the heater which was lit to protect from cold, due to which the fire broke out and smoke and fire spread throughout the room. Chinta Mani Devi died on the spot in the incident. While trying to save them, grandson Golu also got seriously burnt and died. Due to the narrowness of the locality, the big fire engine could not enter inside. A small cart was called. Due to the lower part of the house being closed from inside, the workers faced difficulty in going inside. Police have sent the bodies for post-mortem and started investigating the case. These incidents show how important it is to follow safety standards when using heaters to ward off the cold.
