Mumbai Navi Mumbai International Airport extended Christmas wishes on Thursday. With this the airport has started operations with the arrival of its first commercial flight. IndiGo flight 6E460 coming from Bengaluru landed at Navi Mumbai International Airport at 8 am and was welcomed with a water cannon salute.
The water cannon salute is a ceremonial tradition in which fire trucks spray water at the aircraft as it taxis. Before the first flight landed, IndiGo employees celebrated by cutting a cake and breaking coconuts. The first flight from the airport after landing was Indigo flight 6E882 for Hyderabad at 8:40 am.
Adani Group informed that commercial flight operations started at Navi Mumbai International Airport on Thursday. This is a significant achievement for India’s financial capital as it formally moves towards a multi-airport system after years of congestion at the existing Mumbai International Airport.
