Patna. 08 coaches of a goods train derailed on 27 December at 11.25 pm near Km 344/05 between Lahaban-Simultala stations of Asansol Division (Eastern Railway). Due to this, rail operations have been disrupted on both the up and down lines of this railway section. Saraswati Chandra, Chief Public Relations Officer of East Central Railway, said that after receiving the information, ARTs from Asansol, Madhupur and Jhajha had left for the incident site and work is going on war footing to restore operations. Meanwhile, due to this accident, railway operations came to a complete halt and there was a major impact on the operation of passenger and goods trains on Howrah-Patna and Howrah-Muzaffarpur railway lines. 13020 Bagh Express from Muzaffarpur to Howrah was diverted from Barauni and the train was canceled at 16 stations. At the same time, 13019 Bagh Express coming from Howrah to Muzaffarpur was canceled between Andal and Kiul. Due to this, a large number of passengers from North Bihar got stuck in Chittaranjan, Madhupur and Jasidih and had to spend the whole night at the station. Railways provided assistance to the affected passengers. According to the information given by the Railways, a total of 9 trains have been canceled after this accident. Trains canceled include 12369, 13105, 13030, 63571, 63574, 63297, 63298, 63572 and 63566. Apart from this, routes of 14 trains were diverted. Railways also clarified that there was no loss of life of any passenger or employee due to the derailment of the goods train coaches. However, due to disruption in operations, commuting passengers had to wait for a long time. On the other hand, due to this accident, the travel of passengers not only in North Bihar but also in many areas of Eastern India was affected. A large number of people were stranded especially at Jasidih station. The railway administration set up a quick relief center at the station and made arrangements for water, food and first aid for the affected passengers.
