New Delhi/Bhopal. Cold is continuously increasing across the country. Due to the icy winds coming from the hilly states, there is an effect of dense fog and cold wave in the plain states. Due to winter, holiday has been declared in schools of 24 districts of Madhya Pradesh and 20 districts of Rajasthan. The minimum temperature in most cities of Madhya Pradesh is below 10 degrees. Naugaon of Chhatarpur was the coldest on Monday. The mercury was recorded at 1 degree here. Night temperature fell below 5 degrees in 7 cities of Rajasthan. The temperature in hill station Mount Abu (Sirohi) was recorded at zero for the third consecutive day.
Here, Munsiyari in Uttarakhand was the coldest area recorded on Monday, where the minimum temperature reached minus 25 degrees Celsius. The temperature in Kedarnath reached minus 23 degrees amid heavy snowfall. Gangotri in Uttarkashi recorded a temperature of minus 21 degrees. Here ice got frozen in the water pipeline. Monday night was the coldest night of the year so far in Tabo of Lahaul-Spiti district of Himachal Pradesh and Gulmarg of Jammu and Kashmir. The minimum temperature at both the places reached around 10 degrees below zero. Due to this, water in lakes, springs and small streams of rivers froze.
