Jammu. The National Medical Commission (NMC) has canceled the MBBS recognition of Vaishno Devi Medical College, Jammu. The Medical Assessment and Rating Board of the Commission took this action. The college had received recognition to run MBBS course only last year. The commission took this decision on January 6 after finding violations in the standards of NMC. Existing MBBS students will be shifted to other colleges.
A few months ago, the college was accused of placing the names of 42 Muslim, 7 Hindu and one Sikh student in the seat allotment list in the first batch of 2025-26. After which many Hindu organizations protested. He had said that there was discrimination in seat distribution. Hindu students were ignored, hence the admission list should be canceled immediately. Also, Hindu organizations had demanded that this college is run with the donations of devotees of Mata Vaishno Devi, hence Hindu students should get priority.
