Beniwal’s march to Jaipur stopped in Bari Valley, agreement reached with administration

JaipurNagaur MP Hanuman Beniwal, who set out on a march to Jaipur demanding action against gravel mafia, compensation to farmers and action against administrative officers, has finally announced suspension of the movement. After a written agreement was reached on the demands in the talks held with the administration around 5 am on Wednesday, Beniwal announced the end of the Jaipur march and the farmers’ movement. Hanuman Beniwal had left from Nagaur for Jaipur with a huge convoy of about 2000 vehicles on Tuesday evening. The agitation was going on for the last eight days regarding the six-point demands of the farmers of Riyambadi and Merta areas. When concrete assurance was not received on the demands after giving an ultimatum till 4 o’clock to the administration, Beniwal decided to march to Jaipur.

Convoy stopped in Bari valley, talks continued late night

At around 9.30 pm on Tuesday night, the MP’s convoy stopped on the side of the highway near the toll plaza in Bari Ghati, the last village of Nagaur district. Ajmer Range IG Rajendra Singh, Nagaur District Collector Arun Kumar Purohit and SP Mridul Kachhawa arrived here at around 11:30 pm for talks. The talks between the officials and the MP continued till 1.30 in the night, but no agreement could be reached on many important points. After this, on the request of the administration, the convoy remained there. Talks took place once again around 5 am on Wednesday morning, in which Riyambadi SDM Suryakant was also present. This time, after written agreement was reached on all the major demands, Beniwal announced suspension of the movement.

What were the main points of agreement?

Hanuman Beniwal said that after a day, teams will be deployed for drone survey and manual investigation against the gravel mafia. Strict action and heavy fine will be imposed on those involved in illegal mining. Besides, the role of responsible officials of mining, revenue and police departments will also be investigated. Demands related to farmers have also been agreed upon. The villages of Merta and Rian areas which did not receive last year’s disaster relief compensation and insurance claims will be paid soon. An assurance has also been given to take action in matters related to compensation for land acquired by Railways and transit land.

Demand for action against administrative officers

Beniwal’s demands also included the issue of action against Degana SDM, Degana DSP and mining engineer Rakesh Sheshma and other officials. The administration has given a written assurance that it will investigate and take appropriate action. It was also agreed to review and take action in the case of allegedly wrongly allotted 14 thousand bighas of pasture land.

Beniwal said – effect will be visible in two-three days

After the talks, MP Hanuman Beniwal said, “After talks with the Collector and SP, a written agreement has been reached on our demands. Teams will be deployed for survey against the gravel mafia and all the work will start in the next two-three days. Injustice will not be allowed to the farmers.”

Why was the Jaipur march stopped?

Beniwal said that the administration showed a positive attitude, hence the decision of Jaipur march was withdrawn. He made it clear that if the agreement is not followed then agitation will be carried out again. Earlier, Beniwal had said that if the talks fail in Bari Valley then he will definitely reach Jaipur.

The movement is over, but the warning remains

With the consensus reached at 5 in the morning, Hanuman Beniwal announced to end the movement by postponing the Jaipur march. However, he clearly said that this is only a postponement, not an end. If the administration does not implement the promises, farmers and youth will again take to the streets.
