Shahbaz Sharif surrounded by signing on Board of Peace, sharp attack from opposition in Pakistan

Pakistan: Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif is once again embroiled in domestic political controversy regarding his decision. The opposition alleges that Shehbaz Sharif took this step without discussion and consultation in Parliament, which is against the democratic process.

This board has been formed for the purpose of reconstruction of Gaza. During this time, when the agreement file came in front of Shahbaz Sharif, he smiled and signed it silently. There is resentment among the people and political parties in Pakistan regarding this attitude of Shahbaz sitting next to Trump.

On the issue of Board of Peace Pakistan, former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s party PTI President Barrister Gohar Ali Khan made serious allegations against the government. He said the government ignored Parliament and did not hold any discussion with the opposition. He raised the question whether Pakistan would play any role in forcing Hamas to give up its weapons.

Senior PTI leader Asad Qaiser also termed the decision as unfortunate and said that in a democracy, such important decisions should be taken only after discussion in Parliament. At the same time, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman also expressed his displeasure, saying that people responsible for the suffering of Palestinians are part of this board, and raised questions on such an initiative while the bombing of Gaza continues.
