Fatehgarh. An incident of a massive explosion has come to light on the railway line late night in Sirhind area. The blast occurred on the freight corridor railway line, about four kilometers from Fatehgarh Sahib-Sirhind railway station. The incident occurred around 11 pm, when a goods train was passing through the freight corridor line.
According to the information, this railway line has been specially built for the operation of goods trains. As soon as the engine of the goods train reached Khanpur gates, there was a sudden loud explosion. About 12 feet of the railway line was damaged by the blast.

The loco pilot of the goods train was injured in this incident, who has been referred to Chandigarh after first aid. After the blast, there was chaos in the area and railway officials were informed. The damaged engine has been sent to Ambala.

DGP Law and Order said that different teams have been formed to investigate the case. At present it is not clear whether RDX was used in the blast or not.
DIG Ropar Dr. Nanak Singh, who reached the spot, said that the possibility of a terrorist conspiracy behind this incident cannot be ruled out. Forensic samples have been collected and sent for investigation. Dog squad and bomb squad have conducted intensive search operation in the railway line and surrounding areas.
The DIG said that all the investigating agencies are trying to reach the bottom of the case with mutual coordination. He said the blast was not very fatal. A railway worker traveling in the engine suffered minor injuries and the glass of the engine was broken by the blast. After the late night search operation, the investigation is now being carried forward during the day.
