Amidst the tariff dispute, Trump congratulated India on Republic Day, said – historical relations

On the occasion of India’s 77th Republic Day, countries around the world gave congratulatory messages. On this occasion, greetings also came from US President Donald Trump. Referring to the historical relations between the two countries, the US President described India and America as the oldest and largest democracies in the world. President Donald Trump’s congratulatory message from the US Embassy was shared on the social media site. In this message, Trump wrote, “On behalf of the people of the United States, I heartily congratulate the Government of India and the people of India on their 77th Republic Day. The United States and India share a historic bond as the world’s oldest and largest democracies.” Following Trump’s remarks, US Ambassador Sergio Gore also congratulated on the occasion of Republic Day. He said that he is feeling honored to participate in the parade for the first time on the occasion of India’s Republic Day. Seeing American-made aircraft flying in the Indian skies is a powerful symbol of the strong political partnership between America and India. It is noteworthy that there has been a lot of change in the relations between India and America from the last Republic Day to this Republic Day. In the first year of Trump’s second term, America has imposed 50 percent tariff on India and there has been a lot of discord between the two countries. Not only this, Trump openly called India’s economy dead. After this, Prime Minister Modi had also openly said that he would not even care about his personal loss in the interest of Indian farmers. America imposed 25 percent tariff on India due to the trade deficit in India. After this, Trump also announced an additional tariff of 25 percent on the purchase of Russian oil. India described this tariff as unfair and said that it would take any step to protect its sovereignty and national interests.
