Newborn baby elephant found abandoned, stood up after treatment, weight also increased, now preparations to join the herd

Haridwar: An emotional scene was seen in the forest of the district in Haridwar. Haridwar Forest Department became an angel for the baby elephant and the life of the newborn elephant was saved. After this humane and sensitive work, the entire Haridwar Forest Division is being highly appreciated.

In fact, on January 18, a baby elephant was found abandoned in the forest by the Forest Division team during patrolling. The entire staff gathered to save the life of the little elephant. Immediately after taking permission from higher officials, the baby elephant was sent to the Elephant Rescue Center located in Cheela. His treatment is going on there under the supervision of doctors. The little elephant has now not only started drinking milk, but has also started walking on its own feet.

Newborn elephant was found abandoned in the forest: The incident took place on January 18, when the team was on its regular patrol in Khara Beat located in Shyampur Range of Haridwar Forest Division. During this time, he saw a newborn elephant in the forest area. The baby elephant was completely unwell. He was not even able to open his eyes. The Forest Division team immediately investigated it.

DFO Swapnil Anirudh and SDO Poonam Kainthola immediately reached the spot. It was a matter of relief that little Gajraj was breathing. After this, without any delay the entire rescue team was called to the spot and treatment was started immediately. Not only this, the team waited for the elephant herd in the forest the whole day. Even after waiting a long time, no elephant came near it. Although a herd passed by it, none of the elephants even looked at the newborn.

Hope returned after treatment: The Forest Division team first bathed the newborn elephant thoroughly and gave it water. After this, movement was seen in his eyes and he slowly started opening his eyes. After this he was given necessary medicines including glucose. Initially the newborn elephant was unable to even walk, but with utmost care and sensitivity the team took it to the Elephant Rescue Center located in Chilla Range. There he was given first aid. After this, the treatment of the little elephant continues under the supervision of doctors.

Now completely healthy, ready to join the herd: According to officials, now little Gajraj is able to walk properly. His weight has also increased compared to before. Along with milk, his eating habits are also continuously improving. Now the Forest Division team has started efforts to reunite him with his herd, so that he too can live a normal life like other elephants. A documentary has also been made on the efforts of the Forest Division team, which is being appreciated.

On January 18, during routine patrolling, the team found a newborn baby elephant in a critical condition. The team immediately provided first aid and made every possible effort to save the life of this child. There is a lot of improvement in his condition. His weight is increasing and his eating habits have also improved. Efforts are being made to reunite him safely with his herd. At present he has been kept under observation for 15 days.
