
Started in Madhya Pradesh with the aim of rapidly transporting serious patients to big cities for better treatment. Till now, 127 patients have been airlifted from different districts to major hospitals across the state, out of which 44 patients are included from Rewa district alone. The special thing is that the first patient of this scheme was also airlifted from Rewa.
According to the data, a total of 69 patients were sent for treatment by air ambulance between May 2024 and May 2025, with an average of 6 patients per month. In the initial days, people were less aware of the scheme, hence the usage was less. However, as awareness grew, the number of patients increased and 58 patients were airlifted in the six months between July 19, 2025 and January 19, 2026. During this period, an average of 10 patients per month benefited from the air ambulance service, due to which the administration has claimed an increase of about 67 percent.
However, there are also 32 such districts in the state from where no patient has been identified till now. PM Shri Air Ambulance Service The benefit has not been received. These include districts like Mauganj, Sidhi, Maihar, Dewas, Mandsaur, Neemuch, Ratlam, Khargone, Shivpuri, Morena, Sheopur, Sehore, Rajgarh, Raisen, Shahdol and Umaria. According to officials, the reason for the high numbers in Rewa is also that patients come here from nearby districts and are then airlifted to Bhopal, Indore or other cities.
The benefit of this scheme is available only to those patients whose treatment is not possible in local hospitals and who need to be immediately taken to big hospitals in case of emergency. For this, recommendation of the doctor, CMHO and Collector is mandatory, while for sending out of the state, permission of the Medical Education Director is also required.
