You will not get gold plated silver coin on retirement

Railway Employee New Rule: Railways has ended a tradition that has been going on for 20 years for its employees and officers. Now gold plated silver coins will not be given to retiring railway employees and officers. After getting the approval of the President, an official order in this regard has been issued.

Till now, at the time of retirement, railway employees were given a gold plated silver coin of about 20 grams as a memento, but now this system has been abolished.

When did this tradition start?

The tradition of giving silver coins to retired employees in Railways started in March 2006.

This coin was presented by the Railway Board to the employees and officers who took voluntary retirement (VRS) or completed the prescribed service.

Its purpose was to give a respectful farewell to the employees.

Now after the new order this coin will not be given to employees and officers.

Why was this decision taken?

According to the information, two main reasons are being given for ending this tradition –

huge increase in price

In the year 2006, the price of this coin was around Rs 1000.

Presently its price has increased to around Rs 10 thousand.

Corruption and adulteration cases

Recently it came to light that the coins given to some retired employees were adulterated.

Investigation found that the coins had very low silver content and were mostly made of copper.

Considering both these reasons, Railways has decided to end this tradition.

Who issued the order?

After the approval of the President, Principal Executive Director of Railway Board Renu Sharma has issued an order in this regard. Besides, all the old orders related to this subject have also been cancelled.
