Ghaziabad DCP Nimish Patil said, “The investigation so far has revealed that all three girls have committed suicide. We have also received a note, which is being officially investigated. There is no name of any app in the investigation, but it is written in the note that the girls were influenced by Korean culture. Due to that they have committed suicide. The girls’ father had two marriages, their mothers are from different countries.”

According to ACP Atul Kumar Singh, initial investigation has revealed that the girls are addicted to a Korean task-based interactive- ‘Love Game’. Police said that the girls got addicted to online gaming during the lockdown caused by the coronavirus pandemic. The three sisters used to play Korean games together. Gradually they started doing everything together. From bathing to eating, sleeping and going to school. According to the police, “The girls’ parents had also expressed their displeasure in recent times over their mobile phone addiction. The girls were quite distressed as their family members had banned their use of mobile phones and it is possible that this resentment may have led them to take this extreme step.” According to DCP Patil, the impact of this game was so much that even the education of girls had become irregular.
