Already appointed IAS-IFS officers will no longer be able to appear for UPSC exam again.

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has made a major change in the rules of Civil Services Examination 2026. While issuing the notification, the Commission has adopted a tough stance towards the already selected candidates. Now many conditions have been imposed on the candidates appearing for the examination for Group A and Group B services. Know here according to the Commission which candidates will be able to take the exam and which will not be able to take it?

What rules did UPSC change?

According to the new rules of UPSC, many important changes have been made for taking the exam in CSE 2026. If a candidate wants to appear in the CSE 2026 examination and is already an IPS officer, then he will not be able to choose the option of IPS again. However, some candidates have also been given exemption. Like candidates who have joined any service in CSE 2025 or before. Those candidates will be given the opportunity to resign twice without any resignation. That means only such candidates can appear in the CSE 2026 and 2027 examination. Apart from this, such candidates who are working IAS and IFS officers will also not be able to appear in this examination. There are some candidates whose final result remains pending. Those candidates will be allowed to appear in the examination but if the result is declared then the selected candidates will not be allowed to appear in the main examination.
