India got global support on terrorism, PM Modi said – the country’s message is very clear

New Delhi. Prime Minister Narendra Modi said on Sunday that India’s message on the issue of terrorism is very clear. India neither adopts double standards nor makes any kind of compromise on this issue. He said this after a meeting with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. In a joint statement issued after talks with Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, the two leaders strongly condemned cross-border terrorism.

Both stressed the need to adopt ‘zero tolerance’ towards terrorism and make global efforts to combat it. Both agreed to work together to curb terror financing and prevent misuse of new technologies.

After meeting leaders from various fields on the last day of his visit to Malaysia, PM Modi said, India and Malaysia have a special relationship and both the countries are committed to taking forward partnership in various fields. He said that both sides will strengthen cooperation in the field of counter-terrorism and intelligence and maritime security. Besides, defense cooperation will also be further expanded. PM Modi said that partnership will be taken forward in the areas of semiconductor, health and food security along with AI and digital technology.

Referring to the Indo-Pacific region, PM Modi said that this region is emerging as the development axis of the world and India, along with ASEAN countries, is committed to peace, stability and development in this region. Malaysian Prime Minister Ibrahim said that India and Malaysia are continuously expanding trade, investment, connectivity and defense cooperation. He appreciated India’s rapid progress in the field of global trade and economy.

PM Modi met four leading industrialists of Malaysia and appreciated their growing interest in the Indian economy. The Prime Minister described the growing business relations between India and Malaysia as positive and said that the participation of Malaysian companies is important in the Indian development journey. The prime minister met separately with Petronas chief Tengku Mohd Taufik, Berjaya Corporation founder Vincent Tan, Khazanah Nasional managing director Amirul Faisal Wan Zahir and Phison Electronics founder Pua Khen Seng.

PM Modi met ministers, MPs, senators of Indian origin and appreciated their role in strengthening India-Malaysia relations. PM Modi said that the emotional connection of these leaders with India is clearly visible and their achievements in public life are a matter of pride. He said the participation of leaders from various political parties reflects support for India-Malaysia friendship.

Tamil connects India and Malaysia
PM Modi said, India and Malaysia are connected by a common love for the Tamil language. The strong presence of Tamil in Malaysia is clearly visible in education, media and cultural life. About 3 million people of Indian origin live in Malaysia, which is the second largest Indian expatriate population in the world. A large number of these are people of Tamil origin.

Azad met a former soldier of Hind Fauj
PM Modi also met former soldier of Azad Hind Fauj Jairaj Raja Rao. He expressed gratitude on behalf of his countrymen for their courage, legacy and sacrifice. The Prime Minister wrote on X, the courage of Netaji Subhash Chandra Bose and the heroes of Azad Hind Fauj was important in shaping the destiny of India. It was very special to meet Rao and his experiences are extremely inspiring.

‘Ibrahim is also a big fan of MGR’
PM Modi said that his Malaysian counterpart Anwar Ibrahim is also a big fan of Tamil actor and former Chief Minister MGR. He made the comment when a song from MGR’s film Nalai Namthe was presented during a luncheon hosted by Ibrahim. MGR i.e. Maruthur Gopalan Ramachandran has been a famous actor, director and producer. He founded the AIADMK in Tamil Nadu and later became the Chief Minister of the state. Naalai Namthe, released in 1975, is among his popular films.
