The case of setting on fire the car of the ‘Group Commander’ in the Chennai-based Special Composite Group, Regional Hub of the National Security Guard (NSG) is gaining momentum. Be aware that no outsider can enter the regional hub of NSG. Who are those people who entered the residence of the Group Commander and set the car on fire? It is being investigated. However, a bottle was found near the car, which was filled with petrol some time ago. In this matter, the army officers posted on deputation in NSG informed DG B. Srinivasan has written a letter to ‘IPS’. It has been said that the said incident is spoiling the atmosphere in special forces like NSG. A demand has been made to DG NSG that a team of senior officers should be formed for an impartial and independent investigation in this matter. On the other hand, a responsible officer of NSG says that the investigation of this case is going on. The process of action is going on from NSG side. A deliberate attempt is being made to blow the incident out of proportion. Let us tell you that an FIR has also been registered in this matter. According to the FIR, a complaint of burning of the car was received at Group Commander’s residence number 27, Special Composite Group, SUNL Regional Hub, Chennai. Ajay Kharwar had informed about the fire at 2 o’clock on 8 November 2025. Police have registered a case under sections 324 (4), 326 (B), 351 (4), 329 (4) of BNS. First the Subedar Adjutant of Group 1 was informed about this matter. After this they reached the residence of the group commander. Ranger 1 Lalji Yadav, Regimental Police Non Commissioned Officer was called. He was asked to make arrangements for the fire brigade. After this Lalji Yadav and other commandos also reached the spot. Initially the commandos themselves tried to extinguish the fire, but after some time QRT and water tanker also arrived there. Subedar Major and other personnel saw that car number JH 10AZ 1284 was burning. An empty plastic bottle was lying ten feet away from the burnt car. There was a hole in the lid of the bottle. The smell of petrol was coming from it. Major Aditya Prakash VP and Ranger 2 Nikesh started the search operation. It was found that the back gate of the Group Commander’s residence was open. There were pieces of paper lying in the garden area. Indecent words were written on the paper against the group commander. This showed that the fire incident was not just an accident. It was a well-planned incident. Some people entered the group commander’s house illegally and set the car on fire. On January 1, 2026, officials of 27 ‘SCG’ (Special Composite Group), Chennai Regional Hub, NSG had written a letter to the DG. In this the officers have demonstrated their support and solidarity for the Group Commander. No proper action is being taken in this matter. Many officers have already expressed their views in the above matter in the form of oral and written reports. This is spoiling the atmosphere in a force like NSG. He has demanded from DG NSG that a team of senior officers should be formed for an impartial and independent investigation in this matter. This team can reach the bottom of the incident. The result of the investigation and the action taken accordingly can prevent deterioration of the atmosphere in the force. All this happening in a force like NSG and the top leadership not being able to resolve the matter in time, raises many questions. According to some officials, a serious problem is arising in NSG Hub, Chennai. As always, be it the Armed Forces or the NSG, lack of understanding at the senior level has led to a complete halt in decision making. It seems that DG NSG is still silent on the letter that was sent to him. There are also videos of the car of the officer of this hub being burnt allegedly by the people there. FIR has also been registered in the police station. In this matter, the personnel belonging to other rank ‘OR’ have approached the court. This is not good for NSG. If this problem is not solved soon then it will not be good for the force.
