Case against Assam CM reaches Supreme Court, while Sarma files defamation case against Congress leaders

New Delhi: Left leaders had approached the Supreme Court regarding the hearing against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, in which action has been requested against Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma over a video circulated on social media. On this matter, the Supreme Court on Tuesday has agreed to consider the petition of leftist leaders for listing. In this video, Himanta Biswa Sarma was seen aiming a rifle towards people of a particular community. However, later this video was removed from social media.

Referring to the impending assembly elections in Assam, the Supreme Court said that the problem is that some part of the elections is fought in the Supreme Court.
