Weather likely to worsen in Uttarakhand, Himachal and Jammu and Kashmir, warning of rain and snowfall

New Delhi: The weather is about to change again in North India. According to the latest information from the Meteorological Department, a new western disturbance has become active in the hilly states. Due to this, the impact of bad weather will be seen in many parts of Uttarakhand, Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir in the next 48 hours. A yellow alert has been issued for rain with thunderstorms and heavy snowfall in these areas till February 11. There is a possibility of snowfall and cold wave in Lahaul Spiti, Kullu, Chamoli and surrounding districts. At the same time, snowfall is expected to continue in the valley of Jammu and Kashmir, due to which severe cold will be felt in Srinagar, Gulmarg and surrounding areas.
Clouds have camped in the higher areas of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand since Monday. There is a possibility of snowfall and cold wave in Lahaul Spiti, Kullu, Chamoli and surrounding districts. At the same time, snowfall is expected to continue in the valley of Jammu and Kashmir, due to which severe cold will be felt in Srinagar, Gulmarg and surrounding areas. Traffic and normal life may be affected due to rain coupled with strong winds.
At present, the weather is expected to remain clear in the plains like Delhi, Uttar Pradesh and Rajasthan. The temperature has started rising due to sunlight during the day, due to which people have got some relief from the cold. However, despite clear weather in Delhi, air pollution levels are still high. The Meteorological Department has warned that another western disturbance may become active between February 16 and 18, due to which there is a possibility of rain in parts of Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Madhya Pradesh.
The weather is expected to remain dry in Madhya Pradesh and Rajasthan for the coming few days. The temperature in Barmer, Rajasthan has reached 31 degrees, due to which there is a feeling of heat during the day, but mild cold will continue in the morning and evening. There may be light fog in the morning due to westerly winds in Uttar Pradesh, but the weather will remain clear during the day. Whereas in Maharashtra and Gujarat the cold wave is almost ending and the temperature is likely to remain warm.
