Mumbai Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde has responded to the controversy over actor Salman Khan attending a program related to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Shinde said that it is not appropriate to raise questions on any Indian citizen going to such a program.
He said, “Salman Khan is an Indian citizen. He installs Lord Ganesha in his home, respects our culture and his family also follows the same tradition.” According to Shinde, it is not right to give a political color to his presence in any cultural or ideological program.
Heard Bhagwat’s address in the program
Salman Khan recently attended an event related to the centenary year of RSS organized in Mumbai. During the program, he was seen listening carefully to the address of Sangh chief Mohan Bhagwat. Filmmaker Subhash Ghai and lyricist-writer Prasun Joshi were also present on this occasion.
Lecture series organized at Nehru Center
A two-day lecture series titled “100 Years of Sangh: New Horizons” was organized at the Nehru Centre, Worli. Its objective was said to be to discuss the journey of RSS from its inception till now, its role in the society and its future direction.
As soon as Salman Khan reached the venue, the people present tried to take pictures with him. The event is part of the wider centenary campaign of the association, which was attended by invited speakers from various fields.
