The Congress MP asked, “They are just doing PR and marketing by posing as infra men, but the lives of Mumbaikars are hanging in the balance, what does it mean? When the metro work was going on, why were the safety rules only on paper? When the work was going on on a busy road, why were there no safety arrangements for the traffic passing below?” He further said, “In the name of showing that the metro work is being done at a fast pace, are its quality and technical safety being ignored? Who is responsible?” Varsha Gaikwad said that every time such incidents happen, there is only drama of ‘investigation’. Who will take responsibility for this?

On Saturday afternoon, a portion of the metro bridge on LBS Road in Mulund police station area fell on a moving auto rickshaw. During this time a car also got hit. One person has died in this incident, while three other people were seriously injured. The deceased has been identified as Ramdhan Yadav, while the injured include Rajkumar Inderjit Yadav, Mahendra Pratap Yadav and Deepa Ruhiya. The condition of Rajkumar Inderjit Yadav is said to be critical. The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) said in an initial statement that an incident occurred near Mulund Fire Station at around 12:15 pm, where a part of the parapet segment fell from a height and hit a passing auto rickshaw.

Expressing grief over the accident in Mumbai’s Mulund area, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has ordered an investigation into the incident and announced financial assistance of Rs 5 lakh to the family of the deceased and the state government will bear the expenses of the treatment of the injured. Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has prayed for the speedy recovery of the injured.”
