Politics intensifies on SIR in Bengal, CM Mamata Banerjee attacks Election Commission

KolkataBefore the assembly elections to be held in West Bengal this year, there is heat in the politics across the state. Political parties have also intensified their preparations for the election battle. However, elections are not the only reason for the ongoing turmoil in the state. The major reason for this is the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of the voter list going on in the state. In such a situation, State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee once again made serious allegations against the Election Commission in Kolkata. He said that the Election Commission has now become ‘Tughlaqi Commission’ and is working at the behest of some political party. Mamata Banerjee claimed that a woman officer of the BJP IT cell used AI technology to remove the names of 58 lakh voters from the voter list in West Bengal. He said that this is dangerous for democracy. He also alleged that the Election Commission is ignoring Supreme Court orders, targeting voters and weakening democracy. Mamata Banerjee said that her party will fight a legal and political battle on this issue.
