
New Delhi. Grand Mufti Sheikh Abubakr Ahmed of India met Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday. During this, he discussed wide ranging topics related to social, humanitarian, educational and development. Also discussed major issues related to minority welfare. The Grand Mufti apprised the Prime Minister about the concerns and demands received from various sections of the society during his recent visit to Kerala under the theme ‘With Humanity’. He also presented his messages and thoughts to the Prime Minister for the upcoming holy month of Ramadan. It is being considered very important before the Kerala Assembly Elections.
Praise for social welfare initiatives
Modi praised the educational and social welfare initiatives led by the entire Kerala Jamiatul Ulema and Jamia Markaz. He said that such efforts contribute significantly to the progress of the society and strengthen India’s prestige at the global level. During the discussion, emphasis was laid on inclusive development, underlining the need to take along all sections of the society, prioritizing happiness and human development indices along with economic growth and equitable allocation of resources based on population ratio and regional balance.
Discussion on topics related to SIR
Issues related to Waqf and SIR, conservation of historical mosques and Islamic heritage monuments and restoration of minority educational welfare schemes including Maulana Azad National Fellowship were discussed in the meeting. Apart from this, issues related to ensuring justice to innocent persons, challenges faced by Islamic institutions like Mubarakpur Jamia Ashrafia in North India, proposal for rail services connecting major pilgrimage centers of South India and development of Malappuram center of Aligarh University were also discussed.
Apart from this, the need for closer communication between the Central Government and minority communities across the country was also stressed. Secretary of All Kerala Jamiatul Ulama Sheikh Abdul Rahman Sakafi and Managing Director of Markaz Knowledge City Dr. Muhammad Abdul Hakkim Azhari were also present in the meeting.
