Fear of terrorist threat on Maa Vaishno Devi Bhawan, high alert in Katra after Delhi

New Delhi : After the recent terrorist incidents in the country’s capital Delhi, the security agencies of Jammu and Kashmir are now on high alert. Intelligence agencies have received inputs that terrorists are planning to target the holy shrine of Mother Vaishno Devi and the base camp Katra. After this serious information, Mata’s court and the entire Katra city has been transformed into an impenetrable fort.

After the terrorist alert, security arrangements have been made multi-layered from Katra to Bhawan. Additional personnel of the Indian Army, CRPF and Jammu and Kashmir Police have been deployed at the base camp Katra and the yatra route. To deal with any emergency, special QRT teams have been deployed on the yatra route which are equipped with modern weapons. Surveillance is being maintained from the ground as well as from the sky. With the help of CCTV cameras installed at every nook and corner, every activity is being monitored from the control room.

Strict rules for devotees
Keeping security in mind, the screening process for passengers has also been made more stringent.

RFID Card and Verification: No passenger is being allowed to proceed without a valid RFID card.

Intensive Checking: Intensive checking of every vehicle and passenger is being done at the entry gates, railway station and bus stand of Katra.

Identity card mandatory: The administration has appealed to all the devotees to carry their original identity card at all times and cooperate with the security personnel.

There is no restriction on travel, but vigilance is necessary
The administration has clarified that the Yatra of Mata Vaishno Devi is going on smoothly and it has not been stopped. However, devotees have been requested not to touch any abandoned object and if any suspicious activity or person is seen, immediately inform the police or Shrine Board staff.
