New Delhi. Union Communications Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has issued a show cause notice to BSNL Director Vivek Banjal, taking a tough stance on the controversial royal protocol issued for his visit to Prayagraj. In this protocol issued from the DGM level on February 19, the duty of more than 50 officers was imposed for facilities like Sangam bath and food. The proposed tour of February 25 was canceled after the document went viral on the internet. Considering this as a violation of the established rules, the government has transferred Prayagraj’s PGMT Brajendra Kumar Singh to Andhra Pradesh. Vivek Banjal has been given seven days to reply. A minute-by-minute plan was prepared to welcome Vivek Banjal to the viral protocol.
In this, different officers were entrusted with the responsibility of taking care of the clothes, towels and other personal belongings used after the Sangam bath. The instructions were so detailed that officials were also deployed to ensure that nothing was left behind after the bath. This VIP culture was sharply criticized by the users on social media, calling it royal hospitality, after which the department was brought into disrepute. On this matter, Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia clarified that this is a violation of traditions and he is shocked to know this. He said that this is completely inappropriate and appropriate action will be taken against it. On the orders of the Headquarters, PGMT Brajendra Kumar Singh has been sent to Srikakulam, Andhra Pradesh, while DM Jageshwar Verma has been transferred to Network Transmission North Unit. The Public Relations Officer of the department confirmed the cancellation of the tour and declared the old protocol invalid. The disputed protocol was issued from the PGMT office, which was signed by the DGM. Now a reply has been sought directly from director Vivek Banjal in this matter. He has been given seven days’ time to present his explanation. Due to this action there is silence in the entire BSNL department. The Minister’s tough attitude has made it clear that such unnecessary protocol and royal show off will not be tolerated in government work.
