Rampur of Sidhi district. District President and Mahila Congress leader Urmila Saket expressed her displeasure over not getting respect during the mass marriage conference organized in Naikin District Panchayat and lodged an open protest against the administration. Accusing the program of being given a political colour, he protested by wearing a BJP placard to District Panchayat Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Rajeev Tiwari.
Government program called political platform
Urmila Saket says that the government event was turned into a BJP platform, where leaders of the ruling party were given priority and honoured, while District President, Vice President Rishiraj Mishra and other elected members were ignored. He called it an insult to public representatives. This incident came to light during the general body meeting held in the district auditorium at around 3 pm on Friday afternoon. As a protest, the President registered his objection by wearing a BJP placard to the CEO.
Accused of neglect due to being a Congressman
President Urmila Saket alleged that because of her association with Congress, she is being continuously neglected. He says that as per the rules, it is mandatory to invite the Speaker to any government program related to the district, but he is sidelined again and again. Describing it as against democratic values, he said that the honor of public representatives will not be compromised.
Members also expressed their displeasure
He also said that despite being invited to events like mass marriages, respect is not given. Other members have also expressed displeasure on this issue. They allege that the officers are working arbitrarily and the district president and members are not given importance. For this reason the program was boycotted.
MLA representative warned of siege
At the same time, Churhat MLA representative Gyan Agnihotri also termed the ignorance of public representatives as wrong. He says that the members were not even informed about the mass marriage conference, which is unfortunate. If the officials do not listen to the public representatives then the district office will be surrounded.
Vice President’s allegation, working at the behest of those in power
District Panchayat Vice President Rishiraj Mishra also said that public representatives should be called in the programs as per rules, but this is not happening. He alleged that the officials are working only on the instructions of those in power. The program was boycotted due to lack of respect for the Chairman and the CEO was protested by wearing a BJP placard. When an attempt was made to get a reaction from CEO Rajeev Tiwari in this entire matter, he refused to comment.
