Patna. There is intense political activity in Bihar regarding Rajya Sabha elections 2026. The strategies for the fifth seat are constantly changing in both the Grand Alliance and NDA alliances. There was discussion that RJD President Tejashwi Yadav himself may contest the Rajya Sabha elections, but the Grand Alliance source completely rejected this discussion. The RJD source clarified that no such proposal came in the RJD meeting and Tejashwi is not going to contest the Rajya Sabha elections in 2026. He is going to continue working in his current responsibility i.e. as the Leader of Opposition in Bihar Assembly.
But now the question arises who will be the RJD candidate. The tenure of two Rajya Sabha MPs of RJD is about to end and both are close to Lalu Prasad Yadav. This time, despite the limited numbers of its Grand Alliance, the party will have to work hard to win one. According to sources, two names have emerged from within the RJD for the Rajya Sabha candidate. The first name is AD Singh i.e. Amarendradhari Singh of Bhumihar community, who is from Paliganj, Patna. The second name is Premchand Gupta, who is considered very close to Lalu Prasad Yadav. At present, according to news and sources, Gupta seems to have the upper hand in this race. However, the nomination process is still pending and the complete picture will be clear only then.
RJD is indicating that it will not accept defeat under any circumstances in this Rajya Sabha elections. After Tejashwi Yadav’s failure to field, now the party is preparing to send one of its two close leaders to Rajya Sabha with full force and strategy. This election will also prove to be a test of the political intrigues of Bihar and the strength of the Grand Alliance. In this way, the turning point for RJD in the Rajya Sabha elections 2026 is whom Lalu Prasad Yadav should choose in his eyes and whom he should give the Rajya Sabha ticket to. According to the possibility, this time Gupta seems to be at the mercy of Lalu Yadav, but the final result will be clear only after nomination and voting. It has become clear from this entire process that even after Tejashwi’s decision not to contest the elections, RJD is in the field with full strategy and is trying to send one of its close leaders to Rajya Sabha.
