Chandigarh. In the Haryana Rajya Sabha elections, BJP state vice president Satish Nangal has made the contest triangular by filing nomination as an independent candidate. The nomination process for the two Rajya Sabha seats in the state has been completed and now there are three candidates in the fray. With this, Haryana Rajya Sabha elections have become interesting. BJP’s official candidate Sanjay Bhatia and Congress’s Karmaveer Buddh are already in the fray for this seat, but Satish Nangal has surprised everyone by contesting against his own party’s candidate.
According to media reports, now it has become challenging for both BJP and Congress parties to calculate the votes because independent MLAs Savitri Jindal, Devendra Kadian and Rajesh June were present with them at the time of nomination as independents. Sanjay Bhatia has been the Karnal MP from BJP and is considered close to former CM Manohar Lal Khattar and has a strong hold in the organization. He filed his nomination in the presence of CM Nayab Saini and several BJP MLAs.
Whereas Congress has fielded Karmaveer Singh Boudh, who comes from the Scheduled Caste community. Karmaveer Buddh has been the former secretary of Haryana Legislative Assembly and is active on Dalit rights issues. His role has also been in the news in some controversial cases recently. Congress has chosen him as a strong Dalit face, so that the caste equations can be balanced.
Talking about Satish Nangal, he is a resident of Rohtak and was earlier in INLD, but later joined BJP. In the 2019 assembly elections, he contested against Bhupendra Singh Hooda on BJP ticket from Garhi-Sampla-Kiloi seat but lost. Voting for Haryana Rajya Sabha elections will be held on March 16. Now everyone’s eyes are on which MLAs Nangal gets secret support from.
