New DelhiA heart-wrenching incident in Delhi’s Shalimar Bagh has once again raised questions on law and order. Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) worker and local Resident Welfare Association (RWA) president Rachna Yadav was shot dead in broad daylight. This incident happened last week. AAP leaders have slammed the BJP government on this incident.
What is the matter?
Rachna Yadav was shot in the head by assailants near her house in BC Block of Shalimar Bagh. The attackers first asked his name and as soon as he replied yes, rapid firing started. He died on the spot. The killers are clearly visible in the CCTV footage; they fled on a motorcycle. Police started investigation, but no arrests have been made yet.
Rachna was a witness to her husband’s murder
This tragedy of Rachna Yadav is not alone. Two years ago (in 2023), her husband Vijendra Yadav was also shot dead. This case was related to mutual rivalry, and is going on in the court. Rachna was the main eyewitness in this case. She was fighting for justice and was about to testify. Police suspect that he was murdered with the aim of weakening the case and intimidating the witnesses. Rachna has two daughters in her family.
Leaders paid tribute in condolence meeting
Rachna Yadav’s condolence meeting was held at Shalimar Bagh on Tuesday, in which Delhi State President Saurabh Bhardwaj and MLA Sanjeev Jha participated. Both the leaders met the family and paid tribute. Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the killers are clearly visible in the CCTV, yet the police action is weak. He described the incident as extremely condemnable and raised serious questions on the law and order of Delhi. AAP made it clear that the party will fight to provide justice to the victim’s family at every level. We stand strongly with them in this hour of grief. Saurabh Bhardwaj said that the place where the murder took place is just 400 meters away from the residence of Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, yet there is no improvement in the situation. The party will make every possible effort to punish the culprits and provide justice to the family.
