AI is not a threat to employment, jobs are increasing in Artificial Intelligence

Washington. People are assuming that in the coming time, jobs will be under threat due to Artificial Intelligence (AI). Lakhs of people will become unemployed, but the truth is different from this. Recent data shows that AI is no longer a threat to jobs, but a necessity. Global online recruitment platform ‘Indeed’ said in its recent report that the demand for jobs related to Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills is continuously increasing in the country. AI-related jobs grew by 11.7 percent in September, compared to 8.2 percent in the same period a year ago.
The report states that AI-related jobs are mainly concentrated in the technology sector but now they are gradually expanding to other sectors as well. About 39 percent of job applications in the data and analytics sector, 23 percent in software development, 18 percent in the insurance sector and 17 percent in scientific research mentioned AI in the applications. The demand for AI skills is being seen in all fields of engineering. Among these, Industrial Engineering (17 percent), Mechanical Engineering (11 percent) and Electrical Engineering (9.2 percent) have prominent positions.
According to the report, there was a 10.6 percent increase in jobs with AI skills three months ago. Callum Pickering, Indeed’s senior economist for the Asia-Pacific region, said India is far ahead in terms of such jobs compared to other markets. Apart from India, only Singapore has such a high percentage of demand for AI related jobs. This clearly shows that many employers in India are paying full attention to AI. This report is based on details of recruitment posted on Indeed’s platform. According to the report, total recruitment advertisements declined by 0.8 percent in September, which is the sixth consecutive month of decline in recruitments. However, the report says that the organized sector in the country remains strong and there are ample jobs available. Indeed said that due to the growing impact of AI, employers are looking for specialized and highly-skilled employees who are proficient in AI skills such as data analytics and automation. At present the number of such skilled employees is less. Companies believe that their production capacity can be increased with the use of AI. It is also used very well in calculations, research and analysis, with the help of which it will be easy to assess the future and increase the quality. This is the reason why companies place special emphasis on those people who are aware of the use of AI and are proficient in it.
