Air is poisonous, danger to people’s health increased

Delhi AQI Today is continuously deteriorating, and the situation remained very bad even on Sunday morning. The air quality index of the capital was recorded above 400 in many areas, which falls in the ‘severe’ category. The effect of this poisonous air is clearly visible on people’s health. Problems like irritation in eyes, sore throat and difficulty in breathing have increased more than before. Keeping this in view, the Delhi government has advised 50% of the employees working in the private sector to work-from-home.

The government was hoping for ‘cloud seeding’ to reduce pollution in Delhi, but now this option has also ended. GRAP III has been in effect since November 11, but its effects are negligible. Efforts are underway to improve the air quality in the capital, but there has been no significant change in the conditions.

AQI is at very serious level in many areas of the city. AQI was recorded 448 in Wazirpur, 437 in Jahangirpuri, 432 in Bawana, 427 in Anand Vihar and 421 in Ashok Vihar. Sonia Vihar, Burari and Patparganj have also crossed 400. Many major places like Chandni Chowk and IGI Airport have AQI around 390.

According to the forecasting agency of the Union Ministry of Earth Sciences, Delhi’s air is likely to remain in ‘very poor’ category for the coming few days. In such a situation, people need to be extra careful looking at Delhi AQI Today.

Meanwhile, Environment Minister Manjinder Singh Sirsa said that efforts to reduce pollution are being intensified under GRAP III. He also announced new timings of MCD offices — 8:30 am to 5 pm — and timings of Delhi government offices — 10 am to 6:30 pm.
