This news that came early in the morning shocked everyone. The plane in which Pawar was traveling was completely burnt. It is not clear whether this accident happened due to some technical fault or there was a crash landing of the plane. As soon as the news of Ajit Pawar’s demise came, reactions started coming from political circles. Leaders of all the political parties of the country including NCP and associates of Ajit Pawar expressed deep grief over this accident and expressed condolences to his family.

Ajit Pawar was Deputy CM 6 times
Sharad’s nephew Ajit Pawar, known as ‘Chanakya’ of Maharashtra politics, had a strong hold in the politics of the state. Ajit Pawar was such a leader who never hid his ambitions in politics. His political journey was full of ups and downs, many times he was involved in controversies but he did not hesitate in expressing his desire to remain at the center of power. He also holds the record of becoming the Deputy CM of Maharashtra for the maximum number of times (6), but his desire to become the Chief Minister remained unfulfilled.

Had formed government by rebelling against uncle
Presently he was the Deputy CM in the Mahayuti government of Maharashtra. Even before this, he had held the post of Deputy CM 5 times. Ajit Pawar became Deputy CM for the first time in 2010, but resigned due to allegations regarding irrigation scam. However, after getting clean chit he took charge again. The most talked about issue of Ajit Pawar becoming Deputy CM was the political upheaval of 2019, in which overnight he took NCP MLAs into confidence and joined hands with BJP and formed the government with Devendra Fadnavis. Fadnavis took oath as CM and then Ajit Pawar as Deputy CM. But then, after the intervention of Sharad Pawar and Supriya Sule, this government fell within 80 hours and Ajit Pawar returned home.

After this, Maha Vikas Aghadi government was formed and Uddhav Thackeray took oath as CM. Ajit Pawar became Deputy CM in this government also. But this government did not last long. Due to the rebellion of Eknath Shinde, Shiv Sena got divided and one group joined BJP. Later, Ajit Pawar also rebelled and became the Deputy CM in the BJP-Shinde faction government along with the MLAs close to him in NCP. After the victory of Mahayuti in the 2024 assembly elections, Ajit Pawar became Deputy CM for the sixth time.

Ajit Pawar regretted not being able to become CM
Ajit Pawar had learned the art of politics from Sharad Pawar. But, when he realized that Sharad Pawar wanted to hand over his political legacy to sister Supriya Sule, he rebelled. Even though Ajit Pawar was Deputy CM six times, he always regretted not being able to become CM. Many times, Ajit Pawar’s words expressed his pain of not being able to become CM.

Ajit Pawar is survived by his wife Sunetra Pawar and two sons Jai Pawar and Parth Pawar. Jai has established himself in the business field. Parth contested the Lok Sabha elections from Maval but lost. Sunetra has left for Baramati after hearing the news of Pawar’s plane crash.
