Amidst the tussle in Punjab Congress, the top leadership warned, action will be taken if any public statement is made.

New Delhi. The Congress leadership made it clear that there is no question of change of leadership in Punjab. The party has also given strict instructions to the leaders not to give statements on any issue related to the organization in public forums, media or social media. All such issues should be raised only in the internal forums of the party and before the higher leadership. It is noteworthy that this time the top leadership was immediately alerted due to the tussle between the leaders of the state. General Secretary in-charge Bhupesh Baghel appealed to the high command for intervention. Therefore, big leaders of the state were summoned to Delhi.
The meeting was presided over by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. In this, Leader of Opposition in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi, Organization General Secretary K.C. Venugopal, Punjab in-charge General Secretary Bhupesh Baghel, senior leader Ambika Soni and many prominent leaders were present. From Punjab, State Congress President Amarinder Singh Raja Vading, Leader of Opposition in the Assembly Pratap Singh Bajwa, former Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, Congress General Secretary Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Rana K.P. Singh, Vijay Inder Singla and Dr. Amar Singh participated in the meeting. Addressing the media after the meeting, K.C. Venugopal said that in this meeting which lasted for about three hours, all the senior leaders of Punjab expressed their views. He said that the meeting was very positive and useful, in which detailed discussions were held on strengthening the party at the grassroots level.
On the question related to change of leadership, Venugopal bluntly said that there is no question of change of leadership in Punjab. He clarified that the party leadership is completely united and is focusing on strengthening the organization. Emphasizing on discipline, Venugopal said the party has given clear instructions that no leader will issue any statement in the media or social media on internal matters of the party. All such issues will be raised only on party platforms. He said that this type of indiscipline will not be tolerated under any circumstances. On the question of about 30 leaders of Punjab seeking an appointment with the high command, Venugopal said that any leader in his personal capacity is free to meet any member of the high command. But he also made it clear that any kind of factionalism in the party will not be accepted at any cost. On the question of giving representation to Dalits and deprived sections, Venugopal said that the Congress Party is committed to giving proper representation to all the deprived and marginalized sections of the society – Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and economically weaker sections of the general category – across the country.
Giving information about the meeting, Punjab in-charge Bhupesh Baghel also said that the discussion lasted for about three hours and the political situation of the state was discussed in detail. He said that the general public sentiment in Punjab is that people want to see Congress back in power. Baghel also reiterated that any kind of factionalism or indiscipline in the party will be strictly stopped.
