Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla expressed his displeasure on Thursday before adjourning the proceedings in the House and said, “Yesterday on Wednesday, some MPs of the Congress party had surrounded the PM’s chair. The country saw what happened yesterday, how the MPs tried to go towards the PM’s chair. I had received secret information that Congress MPs can do any unexpected incident by reaching near the PM’s chair. After this, we requested the PM that he should not come to the House and the PM listened to my words. Agreed to.”
The Speaker further said, “Some Congress MPs came and created a ruckus in the Lok Sabha chamber. The opposition MPs led by the Congress could have created chaos during the PM’s address. Therefore, political differences have not been brought to the table in Parliament. After this, the proceedings were adjourned.”
Why did the opposition MPs create ruckus?
During the Parliament proceedings on Tuesday, some MPs of the opposition Congress threw papers at the Speaker, after which the Speaker suspended 8 opposition MPs from the House. Many opposition MPs including Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi started protesting outside the Parliament in protest against the suspension. Opposition to the suspension was also seen inside the Parliament.
PM Modi did not enter Parliament due to uproar
