Apple has officially released iOS 26.4.1, a small but high-stakes software update for iPhone and iPad users. While the initial release notes on April 9, 2026, simply mentioned “unspecified bug fixes,” developers and early adopters quickly discovered that this update addresses a massive flaw introduced in the previous version: a broken iCloud sync that left thousands of devices with mismatched data.
The bug specifically targeted apps built on Apple’s CloudKit framework, including the native Apple Passwords app. Users found that changes made on one device—such as a new password saved on a MacBook or a note edited on an iPad—were failing to appear on their iPhones. There were no error messages or sync icons to warn users; apps simply displayed old information.
