New Delhi: Today on Thursday, the prices of petrol and diesel remained stable across the country, which has brought relief to the consumers. There is definitely movement in crude oil in the international market, but its direct impact is not visible on Indian fuel prices at present. This is the reason why rates are running at almost the same level from big cities to common areas.

However, due to taxes, prices still remain high in metros. Especially in cities like Mumbai, Kolkata and Chennai, petrol is being recorded at or above Rs 100, which is affecting the budget of consumers.

Delhi rates
In Delhi today petrol was recorded at Rs 94.72 and diesel at Rs 87.62 per litre. These prices are much lower than other big metros of the country. Consumers are getting relief due to relatively less tax pressure in the capital.

In Mumbai, petrol is available at Rs 103.44 and diesel at Rs 89.97 per litre. Due to high VAT here, petrol and diesel are costlier than other cities. Its direct impact is being seen on the pockets of consumers.

Inflation in Kolkata also
In Kolkata, petrol is Rs 104.95 and diesel is Rs 91.76. Continuously high prices are affecting daily commuters. Experts believe that it is difficult to get relief here unless VAT is reduced.

Rates up in Chennai too
In Chennai, petrol is available at Rs 100.75 and diesel at Rs 92.34 per litre. Household expenses have increased due to cost of fuel in major cities of South India. The tax structure here still keeps the rates high.

Relief in Lucknow
In Lucknow, petrol is available at Rs 94.65 and diesel at Rs 87.76 per liter. Prices remain stable in the city. Compared to other cities of North India, the rates here can be said to be balanced.

noida status
In Noida, petrol is recorded at Rs 94.83 and diesel at Rs 87.96. The prices here are almost the same as in Lucknow. Stable rates are a cause of relief for daily commuters.

Jaipur
In Jaipur petrol is Rs 104.88 and diesel is Rs 90.36. Due to high tax on petroleum products in Rajasthan, prices are often seen crossing 100. This affects the budget of consumers.

Gurugram
In Gurugram, petrol was recorded at Rs 95.19 and diesel at Rs 88.05 per liter. Fuel prices here have been stable for the last several days. These prices are considered normal in NCR.

Patna
In Patna, petrol remains at Rs 105.18 and diesel at Rs 92.04. Due to continuously high rates, the expenditure pressure on people is increasing. Due to taxes in Bihar, prices are often higher than the national average.

Minor difference in Bengaluru
In Bengaluru, petrol is priced at Rs 102.86 and diesel at Rs 88.94. The prices here have remained stable for some time. Fuel is becoming expensive in South India, due to which travel expenses are increasing.

Who decides the prices?
In India, the rates of petrol and diesel are decided by the Central Authority. Factors like international market, taxes, transport cost and refinery prices affect the prices. Companies release rates daily on the basis of these parameters.
