Big change in the rules of Civil Services Examination 2026, many candidates will be banned

UPSC New Rules: Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has made a major change in the rules of Civil Services Examination (CSE) 2026 and has adopted a tough stance for the already selected candidates. According to the new notification issued by the Commission, now many strict conditions have been imposed for taking the examination for the officers working in Group A and Group B services. This will have a direct impact on those candidates who repeatedly appear in the UPSC exam while in service.

UPSC New Rules 2026 Under this, if a candidate is already an IPS officer and wants to appear for CSE 2026 exam, then he will not be able to include IPS in his preference again. However, the Commission has also given relaxation in some cases. Candidates who have been selected in any service in CSE 2025 or before will be given a maximum of two chances without resignation. Such candidates will be able to appear for the exam only in CSE 2026 and CSE 2027.

Furthermore, serving IAS and IFS officers will no longer be allowed to appear for the Civil Services Examination. However, candidates whose final result is pending will be exempted from appearing for the preliminary examination and main examination.
