Security forces on Friday registered a major anti-terrorist success in Keran sector located in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district. The Army foiled an infiltration attempt on the Line of Control (LOC) and killed two terrorists. Chinar Corps shared information on social media platform X (formerly Twitter) that the operation named Operation Pimple is still going on and search operation is going on in the area.
According to the Army, the joint operation was launched after specific intelligence was received about an infiltration plan in the Keran sector. During the operation, alert soldiers noticed suspicious activity and immediately challenged the terrorists. On this the terrorists started firing indiscriminately, in response to which the army also took action and killed two terrorists on the spot.
Chinar Corps issued a statement saying, “Two terrorists have been killed in the operation, search of the area is going on.” Security forces are now conducting a thorough search of the area to confirm the presence of any more suspects. The identity of the killed terrorists has not been established yet.
The incident comes at a time when an encounter had also taken place in Chhatru area of Kishtwar district a few days ago, on November 5. During that time also, on information about the presence of terrorists, the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police had launched a joint operation.
