LucknowAll the political parties of the state have become active regarding the UP Assembly elections 2027, but there is no movement in the Congress regarding this. Uttar Pradesh Congress Committee has been dissolved for a long time and no work is being done regarding organizational strengthening in the state. There is no activity visible from the central leadership of the party regarding the UP elections. Due to this, it is feared that Congress may become further weak in the UP elections. There is an atmosphere of disappointment among the party workers due to no activity regarding UP elections. Like the entire country, the party had organized some programs in UP in January under the ‘Save Constitution’ Yatra. Under the organization creation campaign, the work of strengthening the organization in the state was also started. Under this, some meetings were organized in the month of February, but apart from this the entire functioning of the organization has come to a standstill. There is no political activity going on in the party from district to block and mandal level.
‘There is no plan to connect voters’
In UP, Congress now has no other ‘dedicated voter category’ except Muslims. It does not appear from any political activity of the party that it is working on any special plan to bring any other section of the society along with itself. A Congress leader said that an emotional wave had arisen among Dalits and backward people regarding Congress in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. If efforts were made to bring it strongly into its fold, a part of Congress’s traditional Dalit-backward vote bank could have come back with it. If this had happened, the party would have stood in the state, but the party did not make any such effort.
‘Political void will be huge’
According to the leader, the Brahmin class is currently angry with the ruling party and is looking for alternatives for itself. Samajwadi Party and BSP are giving various political messages to bring this angry class into their fold, but Congress does not seem to be making any effort to bring this old traditional vote bank back to itself. He said that such political void can prove costly for the party.
There was loss in Bihar
The top Congress leader said that the party has not yet become active in the state. The situation regarding alliance with Samajwadi Party is still not clear. The party had suffered losses due to similar uncertainty till the last minute in Bihar. Now the party is seen working in the same way in Uttar Pradesh also. This may cause loss to the party.
Activism of other parties
The ruling BJP is most active regarding UP. Top leaders of BJP-RSS are continuously holding meetings regarding this. The party is trying to give a positive message among the public by organizing many inauguration programs at the government level. On March 8 also, preparations are being made to connect the public by organizing many big programs in the state. Efforts are being made to do better work by organizing a coordination meeting of BJP-RSS and to take ground feedback from the workers on the functioning of the government. At the same time, Bahujan Samaj Party has given a message to its political opponents by organizing a big rally in Lucknow. Its workers are working whole-heartedly to strengthen the party by holding small meetings at the lower level. Mayawati is continuously active in organizational activities and work is going on for the appointment of assembly in-charges. There is a tradition in BSP to make these in-charges the candidates later. That is, BSP is already working at the level of selection of candidates. Samajwadi Party, which is giving the biggest challenge to BJP, is running a program to strengthen the organization up to the district-block level. Along with celebrating Kanshi Ram’s birthday on March 15, Akhilesh Yadav is going to start the election campaign in the entire state starting from Noida from March 28. The party is trying to expand its reach at the grassroots level. But the absence of Congress amidst these election activities of other parties is shocking the people. In a politically most important state like UP, its national ambitions cannot be realized without strengthening the weak party.
